Jazzy Greenview Matinee (May 30th)





Residents of Greenview Place and the children of the Intergenerational program at Saint Luke's Renaissance school attended a Jazz showcase Sunday matinee featuring Motown legends, Marcus Belgrave and the Kirk Lightsey Quartet. Jacqueline and her daughter Sharon were thrilled to chat with pianist Kirk Lightsey who toured with Ray Charles and Fred shared several jazzy moments with famous trumpet player and senior Marcus Belgrave.





Senior Fitness
Greenview Place offers a senior fitness class to help residents get fit while having fun. Shakin Shirley, Fired up Fred, Rocking Raymond, Jazzy Jane, Amazing Mary, Happy Hildegard, Jumping Jerry, Moving Mildred, Vibrant Vera, Muscle Mitsuo, Toning Tuney, and Jivin' John all attend Lively Libby's class regularly. A photo of the class will appear in The Chicago Sun-Time's "Mind & Body" section on June 23rd, 2010.

Senior Shopping Excursion
A little retail therapy was in order for the seniors at Greenview Place. Seniors tried on hats at My Sister's Closet Resale Shop on Devon Ave., browsed the isles of Ace Hardware, and munched on hot dogs at the infamous SuperDawg Drive-In.
A Historical Adventure on the Chicago River
On Monday, July 12th Residents of Greenview Place were welcomed aboard the "Innisfree," one of Chicagoline Cruises architectural tour boats. The seniors sipped on lemonade, munched on baked goods, and enjoyed the radiant weather as our tour guide shared her knowledge of Chicago's beautiful riverfront. All of the patrons were appreciative to John, our resident historian, for sharing interesting stories and tidbits about our city's past.
Summer Fling
On Wednesday, July 21 residents gathered on Greenview's rooftop terrace for a party featuring live music, summertime snacks, mini-makeovers, a best hat contest, spinning wheel games, an astrology reading, prizes, and more! Shirley looked gorgeous with a little rouge, John and Jerry tied for best hat, everyone thought Sylvia Friedman, the astrologist, was unbelievably accurate, and all the residents won great prizes.
The Cirque Shanghai
On Thursday, August 5th residents were treated to a thrilling performance of The Cirque Shanghai, a meticulously choreographed showcase of agility, strength, and grace. The performance, at Navy Pier's Skyline Stage featured such exotic stunts as "The Roman Wheel" and "The Spanish Web." Mary enjoyed the graceful dancers, while the others seemed to enjoy the motorcycle stunts.
